The hardest part of a synthesiser is not the circuit, it is telling someone what the knob does in 6mm. I drew a legend system for the panels first and let the identity follow from it.
The manual is the same drawing language at a readable size: line diagrams, numbered call-outs, no photography. It prints in one colour on the cheapest paper the shop stocks and folds down to fit inside the box.
The boxes are printed flat, one colour, so a new module needs a new plate and nothing else.
